Privacy policy
For the music visualiser app. Effective 15 October 2026.
This app draws visuals that move to the music your phone is playing. It does not collect, send or share any information about you. It uses the internet only to download a preset pack you choose, from projectM's repositories on GitHub, and sends nothing about you when it does.
Sound
To draw the visuals, the app listens to sound through one of three sources you choose under Where the sound comes from:
- This device's playback listens to what your phone is playing. It needs the microphone permission, because Android files it there, but the microphone is not used.
- Captured playback also listens to what your phone is playing. It asks you to allow capturing the screen, and captures only sound.
- Microphone listens to the room through the microphone.
Whichever you choose, the sound is used as it arrives to shape the picture and is never recorded, saved or sent.
What is playing
If you turn on Now playing and allow notification access, the app shows the title, artist, artwork and progress of what another app is playing. Android only shares this with an app that has notification access. The app does not read your notifications, and does not keep any of these details after they leave the screen.
Your files
The app opens only the files you choose to import. It keeps the presets you import, their pictures, how often each has played, your likes, your playlists and your settings. All of it stays on your phone. If your phone's backup is on, your playlists, likes, settings and the list of packs you downloaded are also saved to your Google backup. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in your phone's settings, deletes all of it from your phone.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
